Propulsion System Engineer
Position: Propulsion System End of Line and Diagnostic Engineer
Job Description:
The engineer shall provide support for verification/validation/DVP design for Integrated SW Qualification Testing, support for vehicles builds and high voltage testing for Propulsion System Service and EOL/plant support for End of Line (EOL) activities.
Job Duties:
Control validation support:
Integrated SW Qualification Testing: The activities in scope are verification, Design Validation Plan design, validation (diagnosis and functional requirements).
Responsible for gathering and development of requirements for the assigned feature.
Propulsion System Support:
- Integration of Electrified Propulsion System during the complete development process starting with mule vehicles commissioning and related issues fix.
- High Voltage test bench commissioning and test execution.
- High voltage safety test portion execution.
- First level analysis of data logged remotely and fleet support by means of Flying Doctors able to reach vehicles and fix on site their potential issues.
EOL/Plant Support:
- Definition of an EOL norm to properly test Electrified Propulsion Systems at the vehicle EOL.
- Support the EOL/plant activities, fix eventual issues and EOL norm testing on vehicle in advance to its usage at the plant.
Flying Doctor
- The engineer will work inside the ePT Verification Team executing Design Verification Plan starting from the development, in order to bring his experience and troubleshooting capabilities on after sales activities.
- Support Controls, Calibration, and Validation teams during development and field issues resolution.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university.
- Experience in developing diagnostic content for either or both electrified propulsion system and conventional.
- Knowledge of Diagnostic Protocols (Keyword 2000 and UDS)
- Knowledge of CAN messaging structure & protocol for the CAN-Bus layer
- Knowledge of electrical systems test interface tools
- Strong verbal/written communication skills
- Good understanding of vehicle propulsion system (conventional and/or electrified) Experience in developing more sophisticated diagnostic strategies, such as, but not limited to, aftertreatment diagnostics, evaporative leak detection diagnostics, or comprehensive component monitoring (circuit checks, rationalities and functional checks including automatic learnings)
- Familiarity with the following programming: C++, MatLab/Simulink, Pseudo code modification
- Utilizing a multi-functional tool chain, requiring familiarity with IBM Rational ALM, ONG, etc.
- Work with multi-discipline engineering teams to decompose and develop the diagnosability and maintainability strategies for the propulsion system.
- Requiring familiarity with agile development workframe (Pl planning, features decomposition, story points allocation, creation of backlog and big room planning interactions)
- Strong facilitation, mentoring, and coaching skills with ability to work directly with individuals and groups.
- Strong leadership behaviors in multi-disciplinary (cross-functional) team
- Strong project coordination skills
- Familiar with Office365 suite
- Capable of creating Logical as well as Physical Schematics
- Experience authoring Requirements and specifications.
